Yahoo has an anti spy program for its toolbar. Plus a pop up blocker as well. I just ran it and only got cookies from sites I had visited and it said cookies pose no security threat. Other than that just use Microsoft Anti Spyware which you can find on the Microsoft security updates pages. As well as a good firewall and a good virus detection program also a good Ad Aware program and all your basis should be covered.

yep yahoo or google's toolbar are good, but they only keep track of where you surf, that's about as close to spyware as you'll get with those guys...then again, you don't really know what they're doing with the toolbar :P
he&she, do you only use explorer as a browser?
if so, www.getfirefox.com has a built in ad/pop-up blocker, then you can also add what they call "extensions" to fine tune the browser to your liking and can ad, "adblock" which blocks pop-ups.
you can also have multiple websites open within one browser, called, tabbed-browsing, has a google search bar built into it as well...can't say enough about this browser, it's fast and it's free
