I don't think any one expected his contract to be renewed at the end of the season. He made some bold moves that could have bordered on genius, but in the end most of them failed. Nice guy though and all things considered, this firing went off pretty smooth compared to everything else the team has done this year.

I saw it coming. It was bound to happen. I won't be surprised if I see the new GM change the coaching staff also. I can't see Vince being traded, but every player in the NBA has a price. Even Shaq. Great players like Kareem, Dr J, Oscar were all dealt at one time or another. The only untradeable player in my opinon is Lebron James.

...Yao Ming is another untradeable. May never be as good as Shaq, but he is raking in $$$ for the Rockets...
Hopefully Richard Peddie will finally get his .This smelled of a guy protecting his own job.
This organization needs to be changed from top to bottom .Needs less suits and more people that know something about the game
Like the leafs not even having a goaltender coach cheapness shows through in many different ways.
Grunwald was not the best general manager but seemed like an honest hard working guy

From the TSN article:
Richard Peddie, president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd., said the 30-44 club wanted to show fans it was serious about change.
Hmm. So they go ahead & charge all the season's seat holders several thousand dollars for playoff tickets, then they show fans that they're serious about change.
Riiiight.
OK, admitedly the amount I paid for NBA playoff tickets which will never be used will just be applied against next year's seasons tickets. Or I could reqest a full refund since there's no way the Raptors will make the playoffs. But I, along with hundreds (thousands) of Raptors season's seat holders just financed the team interest free for about a month.
Glad they're serious about change.

Yeah, Peddie will be dumped too as he doesn't have a contract for next year also - just like Grunwald b4 fired.
Belfour doesn't need a goaltender coach since he was tutored by Tretiak in the ole Chicago days.
The Hakeem deal paralyzed the Raptors. Poor Grunwald.

The Star was touting Paul Beeston to be the prez of MLSE instead of Peddie. I think he'd be great. Only problem is that if the Leafs do well in the playoffs it will be extra security for Peddie.
[ALIMEISTER], lol..in your opinion LBJ is the only untradeable player?? your opinion seems a lil familar to me, oh yeah! its Chuck Swirskys...."Even Shaq has a price. The only untradeable player in this business, in my opinion right now is LeBron James. Carter is a terrific talent, but remember guys like Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Dr. J, Oscar Robertson were all dealt at one time or another. It's a business. "
The leafs do not have agoalie coach in there system at all .MLSE may spend money on saleries but cut costs in scouting and other departments maybe if they spent little more in scouting could save more in player expenses.
Look at teams like devils , sharks etc .
Heard the espn radio show on the fan thursday night .The people on there thought grunwald had done a great deal in managing to dump A Davis because of his salery and he is washed up as a player they said on there.
