This should be an exciting match. We'll see once and for all what England is made out of. Is it stone or clay? --- Kev

Going with the same lineup as we did against the Swiss....Hopefully Sven's squad can pull it off and Rooney goes without a yellow card (I hear odds are 3-1 that he will) that's some temper he has..on a sidenote I read that Ruud V. wants to see Wayne play aside him at United.

Croatia can play tough, as evidenced by the tie against the French.

Should be an interesting match.

"SEND HER VICTORIOUS HAPPY AND GLORIUS! C,MON ENGLAND
C,MON ENGLAND! Great victroy!! Wayne Rooney player of
tornament so far, both beautiful goals. And no yellow cards.
France beats the Swiss cheese so it,s England vs Portugal.
Would have prefered Greece but that,s the way it goes. Portugal
will be a real challenge, but I feel England has a bit more scoring
than Portugal. How are they gonna defend Rooney? I will
say one thing about England weakness-free kicks by the opposition. They seemed to have a real hole there. Will have
to do better against a strong Portugal team. Can,t wait till Thursday!

Did you watch Greece play Russia. There defence was on beach somewhere. Greece played well i just don't think they are as good as some would think. Time will tell.

A great game for England against Croatia. Rooney is just 18 but he plays like a season vet. 4 goals in 2 games is pretty amazing.

Can he maintain this charge for the remainder of their matches? --- Kev

Rooney's title of being the youngest to score at the euro finals lasted only 4 days...Vonlanthen is now the youngest geeza to score a goal at the tourney.

I don't think either Greece or Portugal are a match for England or France.

I expect both to advance to the semis.

My Take On England:

Up Front: Who's going to score?

Equals: Lucky to advance to knockout stage.

But Rooney (and England will be much better) in 2 years at WC2006 will be ready and at Euro2008 will be world best. That will be their turn.

Come on SQ.......give it up to Wayne (Shrek) Rooney!!!!!!

Oh well, He has matured 2 years early than I thought he would. Everton have put a 50million pound fee on him. He would be the most expensive transfer. Would Chelsea bite?

I am so glad I was wrong. :) He gave England a chance.

He's a Fluke..... Owen was there before him... and it did him no Good.
I remember that before, just whispering the name Owen was scaring the best defensemen... Now, they laugh as if he was the Striker of Saudi Arabia...

My point being, you really are a Star if you play at a High level over a long period of Time (like Gary for Example).

Henry is Good but still has to stay at this level for a few years...

Even SVEN "The Phone" ERICSSON compared Rooney to Pele....
Man, That shows you either How Stupid he is or how Stupid he Thinks the People are to be able to swallow such idiocy.
Rooney is good, but that's only 2 games he played ....
Pele scored over 1000 goals... He is the ONE and ONLY King.

I think Rooney is a force to be reckoned with at this competition. As evidenced by four goals in three matches. Fluke or not, he's hot right now, and the French may have to deal with him again.
.....
If they can start scoring. ;)

Snook,

I agree that the hype is too much but the poise and composure he has shown shows me that he will be part of England for a long time. That's the reason his transfer fee haas blown sky high. The potential of this 18 year old is greater than the potential of many who have come before, Henry, ZiZou, Ballack, Totti, etc. Now it's a matter of fulfilling that potential. We shall see.

Ericsson compared only Rooney to Pele in the manner in which they came on to the scene at such a young age.

Au revoir,

But please don't bring up Lineker again :)

England looked real good going forward. When the ball was in England's 6 yard box from free kicks, it was chaos. Goalie James MUST start to take control if we plan to continue past Portugal. Yeah, I'm an Englishman.

Owen sure did break into the spotlight in a big way, but since 98 he hasn't really done what was expected. One of the problems with Owen is he is to soft. To me he looks like an ivy league pranzy boy, not a football player. I wonder if thes gay? "Not that theres anything wrong with that."

Where as Looney (love that snook) is alot more aggressive and has a "get in my way i'll run you over" mentality. Hes big and strong and i don't think theres many that can slow him down, unlike Owen.

The problem with Looney is he has Bertuzzi's blood and that could spell disaster. --- Kev
