I`m a big stats freak and NHL freak as well, I`ll be glued to TSN when the drafts on.
This year looks like there should be a lot of sleepers.
TSN website reports: "Once Russian forwards Alexander Ovechkin and Evgeni Malkin go Saturday in Raleigh, N.C., it's a crap shoot as to who will go next because the talent pool thins out in a hurry"
I personally think the whole draft is a crap shoot I like the trades that happen. It was better years ago, free agency has changed it a lot.
If the NHL moved the age up from eighteen or nineteen or maby even twenty. The teams could draft a player and put him on next years roster.
GO LEAFS GO ahhh maybe
next year or the year after.

Cant remember does PItt get #1 pick. If so he`s screwed. They will never play above .500. If and when he becomes a star they will trade him.

Washington has #1 overall. Pittsburgh #2. Luck of the draw.

Pittsburgh will be in the playoffs in 3 years and will win the stanley cup before the Maple Leafs.

as far as the leafs pick u never know with this kid or any of the picks made 80th or 90th overall. He could be their goalie of the future or a total bust. Belfour isnt gonna be around much longer so they might as well get a goaltender now for the future.

I guess I'm getting ahead of myself here. Pittsburgh has some great prospects...but you never know what you are getting with a prospect. If their prospects turn out to be as good as they should be, they team should have a good future. Plus they are bound to get another good prospect next year whether it be Crosby or not.
Read an interesting article in a Philli paper saying that Recchi is going to sign with Pittsburgh. That should give them some veteran leadership if that happens.
I personnally don't think the Leafs will be winning a cup any time soon. This would of been their year.....its all down hill from here.

Stats show players taken after the 2nd round have about a 10% chance of making the show.
