Well, maybe this is a sign...Pat Quinn coaching the Canadian Team to gold after 50 years of being a bridesmaid. Now can Pat Quinn bring the same magic from SLC back to the Leafs bench. We will see, and lets see if Mats can bring back his pasionaye play back and crank the Leafs up a few notches.

On a "negitive" note, Does anyone else see the "coincidence" that the Canadian Team Power Play was terrible, just like the Leafs? If Pat has any room for improvment, that would be it. I am soooo happy for Pat, this should shutup all the nay sayers.

One final though.... so much for the jackass that posted a thread "why do Canadians choke?....." (nothing personal) We don't choke, 2002 proved that.

Oh Canada, Our home and native land.........

I'm Outta Here,
Trent

Well, I've got two words for you: Chicago Cubs.:p The Leafs haven't quite achieved the Cubs' record for futility, but give them time.

I'm old enough to have seen the Leafs win on the last occasion. I don't think I'm young enough to see them win on the next one.

Hello Trent,

First, Congradultions to Canada! Second, like you, I could only wish this great Canadian trend continue, and Toronto could win the cup. Now, for the part you won't like.

I am soooo happy for Pat, this should shutup all the nay sayers.

Wrong, It won't shutup this nay sayer. May I ask just what in God's green earth Pat did that was so amazing in SLC? Seriously, humour me.

Trent, Ken Hitchcock, an equipment manager, heck even a fan could have done the same job Pat did. A coach only shines when he makes a brilliant move, or take a losing team and makes them a winner. The job of our three head coaches was to intimidate with their last names, and look pretty.

This is an elite team..Canada's best. The players won that gold alone! There is a reason why the coaches don't get a medal, the answer obvious.

Quinn is a meat head, plain and true. All he did was make Canada job harder. Start Joseph against Sweden. - I warned here on TERB before the game he would be destoryed.. and he was. Would he pull him? Nope, not Quinns style. Oh, but a great move was bench Lindros. ( No secret way here never came to Toronto)

Winning a gold with Canada will change nothing. Pat will continue to be Pat. A guy that refuses to pull a goalie even if down 5-0, gives players like Khristich, and Anthropov way too much time to get better. He rewards players no producing by putting them on the first line like Hoglund. Plus to top it off, all he does is critisize the team, and bark bark bark. I know, I have sat behind the bench at games.

Alright, back to business! I'm very interested in everyones thoughts on what the last 10 days did to Cujo regarding his contract negotiations? Now, game one was not his fault, however, he did not stand on his head and win us a game. Then Marty goes in and played very well when needed, particularly his puck handling. What does Marty make, I believe he is locked up at $6 million/year. How can Cujo justify his request of $9 million/year now?

Thoughts?

WOW!!

Looks like we have a wee problem now! Cujo out for 6-8 weeks! Anyone looked at the Leafs schedule for the remainder of the season? Brutal!! Schwabb has proven he is not the man, Telqvist is gone, there is no one within the organization. I hear they may go after Hackett or Weeks.

BTW, I thought the rumours of a rift between Joeseph and Quinn were typical Toronto fodder, however, they didnt look to cozy at the opening of last nights game. Cujo refused to shake quinn's hand after taking off his blocker to do same to Lemay Doan. Has Cujo played his last game as a Leaf?

Spiker,

I agree this is a major situation. Please, tell me you are kidding about Hacket and Weaks < pun.
Seriously, either sucks big time. Weaks was hot just like Kidd while he was new. Now guys know him better.. 3-9-0

Once choice I see, and would be happy with - Tugger! Ron Tugnett is an excellent and under rated back stop.

As for Quinn and Curtis, I'll let you know. I'm meeting them tonight. ( charity dinner )

Hacket and Weeks have been thrown around all morning on FAN590, also heard Tugger mentioned. They say Cujo could be back in 4-5 weeks now as opposed to the originally thought 5-6. Who knows, maybe they'll make a trade for a big stay at home defenceman and go with what they have? As long as we make it into the playoffs, anything can happen when Cujo is back. Not a good situation any way you look at it though.

Kathleen, have a great time tonight!!

Cujo broke his hand because Quinn didn't keep it working for a week and a half at the Olympics. This is all Quinn's fault.

How ridiculous!! You can't blame Pat Quinn for Cujo's injury.

However, you can blame the Leafs for Cujo's poor showing in the Olympics. They worked the poor guy to death. When it came time for him to shine in the Olympics, he was burnt out.

Another name being passed around as a possible free-agent replacement for Cujo is Mike Vernon. There's nothing wrong with Vernon.

IMO, and I'm no expert, it's looking increasingly like Cujo may not be back next year. If that's the case, were in trouble for a few years to come. We have no prospects in the farm system, and there are no long term prospects in the free agent market.

The problem with Vernon is he's 39 years old and his best playing years are far behind him. He may carry us to the playoffs this year, but I doubt he has what it takes to win a Cup, let alone be a starter for an entire season. Leaf management has a huge problem!
