Can anyone please offer suggestions about who to use for registering a few domain names? And possibly provide some reasonable hosting? The domains have nothing to do with the "jiz biz", so a well reputed and G-rated host would be great.
And, do I need a credit card to do this?
Thanks y'all.

www.networksolutions.com is the leader in the industry of domain name registrations and yes you need a card to do it unless you have an account.

Your name and information is kept private. They domain belongs to you, but is registered privately.

network solutions is expensive
out of all of the suggestions, www.namecheap is still the
cheapest
for $8.88 per year you also receive a one year whois privacy
and you can use paypal
if you do not have the ability to pay online, just pm me, I can setup an account for you and pay using paypal, you can reimburse me, the cost is minimal

Before you guys jump all over me for resurrecting an old thread... let me say its just recycling on my part :)
OK..i want to register a Domain through "Network solutions" but found them in the past to be harping too much to renew and upgrade that i got pissed off. Additionally..when i searched for a availability of a name..they give you option to make a anonymous offer to buy someone elses current domain name!?..what the Fuck is that about!?!?

There are still a number of Domain Squatters out there. Not a lot you can do, but I don't recommend supporting them financially.
On a more positive note, I have used the services of easydns.ca as well as sibername.ca. Neither are the cheapest providers on the block, but both have decent reputations.
Do your research and be sure you're comfortable with your choice, both for the range of services you're buying and the level of support you'll receive.

I will throw in my 2 cents ...
I use http://www.domainsatcost.ca. I live in Toronto, I can physically drive by their building know they are not going to run away or be bought over by 10 other companies and I can pay domains in canadian dollars which for you americans may work out even cheaper. Been using them for 7 years no problems whatso ever with them.
The other nice thing about them is they include a complimentary bogus e-mail for the whois privacy guard. IF CIRA or other valid companies send e-mails about your domain you get them. All others are validated and removed to save your inbox sanity.
I free forward is also provided for your domain e-mails so if you are buying a domain to keep the name or in my case I bought domain under my own name and forward all e-mails to my gmail account, I can do so at no extra cost.
as for domain hosting, I would suggest PM KIARRA as she says.
