Tell me about it. My life will consist of endless nights in front of my T.V. for the next several months. Goodbye social life!!!!

I'm curious, in the next little while if SP's are going to actually lose a little bit of business. They are saying that this game will earn more money in the first 24 hours than any blockbuster movie in history.

See you all online!

Will they be making a PC version? I don't have XBox.
Also, I saw a commercial for a cool looking online war game. Can't recall the title for the life of me though. Anyone see anything like that using more up to date weapons? It's for PC.

Sounds like World Of Warcraft coming out for the PC on the 23rd. of this month.

Excellent game actually :)

Just did a google search on that title. Not the one I was thinking of, sorry.
What I saw was more military. The men were using pulse guns like that in Aliens 2. It was an online PC game.

Halo was originally going to be Mac only by Bungie but MS bought them since they did not have the talent to develop it on their own.
Ms then was only going to make it for XBox but finally due to poor sales of the XBox released Halo for PC and Mac. I still have the original Bungie Beta with multiple online cooperation play. You would drive another would navigate and another would be the gunner. U still get 50 or 60 guys online playing it ... pretty funny for a 4 year old beta that never got released.
I am surprised that MS released it before the XBox 2 which will be based on the G5 mac processor since it designed for better handling of complex graphics and multiple processing. The Xbox 2 will not be backward compatible eitherso expect to pay for an upgrade to Halo 2 for PPC. The developer kits for XBox for the Mac came out with the release of the G5 ..... MS never really gave that much press??? but i will be playing my XBox and Halo 2. just glad it came with the developers kit.

I think you are referring to Call of Duty. Unless you have a really high end graphics card forget. This game needs a really high frame rate but it is stunning on the right machine.

As for Halo on another platform? Forget it, proprietary rights for Microsft and the XBOX. Besides PS2 could not do it justice. Game Cube - don't make me laugh.

Is this bigger than DOOM 3? I never heard of Halo.

Nope, not COD. I already have that, and play it nightly online. COD is based in WW II. The game I saw was using more modern weapons and gear. Video card is no problem, I have an Ati 9800 Pro.

I was just curious about Halo 2 on PC, no other platform.

sounds like, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge. It is for the Xbox and PC.

I've seen the commercials for Crimson Skies on TV for the Xbox.

Crimson skies is a 1940's adventure seriel styled aviation combat game....definitely not the game she's thinking of.

The latest word, and I work in the industry, is that the XBOX 2 (Xenon) will indeed be backward compatible. Basically they are going to build a ghost of the entire XBOX system within the Xenon's operating system.

There is currently NO concrete timeframe, nor even an official announcement, that Halo 2 will be released for either the PC or the Mac.

Actually the developer kit explains that the XBox 2 will be run on the PPC platform and will not be backward compatable.
ALso the frameworks for the XBox 2 are Unix based so unless there is some wild port of WINE I cannot se it happening.

What 's the availability of Halo 2?

Is it sold out or did Microsoft make more than enough for all the stores?

Got my copy of Halo 2 and have been playing for a couple of hours. The game blows me away. I have my XBOX connected to a 60" TV and 5.1 dolby digital, 6-speaker surround. Absolutely incredible. Best sound and visuals of any game I have ever played. A winner for Bungie.

I preordered mine so had no trouble getting hold of it. The manager at Blockbuster said that all of their stores were sold out. No date available on rerelease yet.

If you have an XBOX - you've got to play this game!!!

.... was thinking of buying X-Box just to play Halo 2 this weekend with my cousin. But if I can't get the game then there is no point to getting the X-Box console.

Alright, I bought X-Box and I bought Halo 2.

Its an awesome game, but I wouldn't say its the best game ever. I would have to say that Bond 64 was a better game for its time, but Halo 2 is definitly up there in the greatest games of all time.

Went to Zellers and they had plenty of copies of Halo 2, so if anybody is looking, Zellers has them. Though it probably means that other stores are stocked up with the game.

I guess I don't get it. I have an Xbox and love it. Love Knights of the Old Republic, Fable, MechAssualt. But I never played Halo 1. With all the hype, I went out and bought Halo 2. It seems just like any other FPS. What am I missing?

Well pete, it all depaends on what kind of games you like. If you don't like FPS's to begin with, then Halo 2 will not impress you. From the list of games it sounds like your more a role playing, 3rd person kinda guy. Me, I like to kill maurading (sp) bands of aliens that want to invade Earth. So suit up, grab a weapon and kick some ASS!!! Yes i have the game.

Okay, I finished Halo 2. Or so I think.
The story sort of ends off abruptly. Now did I finish the game and will I have to wait for Halo 3 to come out to complete the story?

Or do I have play the game at a another level (I played it at normal) to complete the story? Or is there something else to it that I'm missing!?!?

I just don't want to play the whole game again unless I know that there an actual point!!

how is the game? i haven't have the time to get one... and HL2 is out right?? Can't wait to get my hands on CS:Source...

Halo 2 is the first First Person Shooter that I have played in a while. Its pretty good. The story is well written, they got some decent actors to do the voice overs and the gameplay itself is fun and action packed.

The mulitplayer is sort of disappointing. I was hoping that you could play with your buds against the computer like in 007. But the game does not provide "Bots" or artificial enemies.

Overall, I'd say its a great game and worth the buy but it definitly does not live up to the hype.

The multiplayer is disappointing? The original's success was based almost entirely on the multiplayer experience, and the sequel takes it to another level. The online play alone is enough to make you lose your job. You are probably the only person on the planet who thinks the multiplayer is disappointing. Halo IS multiplayer...no one cares about the single player part of the game.

Manji

I meant the multiplayer when you are not playing it "online".
