curious - do you donate blood?

are you honest when you answer the canadian red cross screening questions about whether you have engaged in sexual practices for money or whether you have paid for sexual services ...?

what are your thoughts ...?

aren't these questions just a little outdated ...?

or based upon the presumption that sp's do not look after their sexual health?

as i have stated on several occassions in previous posts, i believe that as an sp i have had more knowledge and control over looking after my sexual health than when i was a naive non-sp.

if i am careful about my sexual health and i am not a toothless crack whore ... if i get tested for std's every few months ... and i want to give blood ... should i be expressly forbidden because years ago i accepted cash for money?

Canadian Blood Services bugs me relentlessly to donate blood every few months. So I go in and lie on the "money for sex" question! I don't see how CBS could collect any blood from anyone but celibates if everyone was completely honest since one of the questions is "Have you had sex in the last twelve months with anyone of whose sexual habits you are not absolutely certain?" Even if you're married and absolutely faithful yourself, you can't be absolutely certain about your spouse's activities!

They also ask a rather homophobic question about same-sex activity.The pont is that the blood is tested anyway,they dont just transfuse it into a patient and trust to luck.If they find that SPs and their customers give a percentage of HIV+ blood that is so high that the testing is just not worth it in terms of time and resources,then fine,but I really doubt that this is true.i think it is just a kneejerk reaction.
And honestly,do they think that a crack whore is going to take time off to give blood,and if she can get any money for it,as you can in some countries,would she tell the truth anyway?

1) I don't donate blood cuz I'm a little guy and the little pumps freak me out

2) Aren't they suppose to screen the blood anyways?

If not (2) then why the f*ck should I ever accept donated blood if I'm in need (surgery, emergency, etc)

Ok, maybe I over did it... I would normally accept blood, but like most people these days I would do the autologous donation.

But the real question is... if they screen the your blood, why do they care if you've been paid or have paid for sex?

Are there that many people have fit into that category that it's worth screening before the donation? Even if they have and their tests are negative, is it still a bad idea to use their blood?
