This guy has emailed me before under a different name trying to get me to cash "probably" what is a fraudulant cheque.....be careful!!!! The new name he's using is Mielly Smith, this is the email he sent me...

Thanks for your reply, Good am ok with your price, but their is a little favour i will like you to render for me, one of our participant is presently in west africa for another seminar presentation and will also be joining us at the serminar after they finish the presentation, the check for the sum of $9,520 will be forwarded to you, but pls when you received the check kindly cashed it at your nearest cashing store immediately and send the remaining balance of ($3,520) on the check via western union transfer to the colleague, this funds will enable him to come to this years serminar, pls if you are willing to do this assitance for me, kindly send the name that you want on the check including the address where you which to receive the check, so that i can send the check to you earnest, before you engaged with another person.

It's a notorious scam - Nigeria 419 - named after a section of the Nigerian Criminal Code.

Got one of those emails awhile back, thought I would have some fun with them first. Emailed them back saying I was interested but wanted more details first. Once I got them hooked I then emailed them that I would help them out only if they deposited the money into a Swiss bank account in my name that I would open, and once verified that the money was in there I would transfer the funds anywhere after that minus a 25% cut for me. I thought it was a win win situation according to there hard luck story in the first email, but they never got back to me. So I had everyone at my work spam them with fake email adresses trying to cut them a better deal for weeks till there email address didn't work anymore. Funny how scammers don't have a sense of humor!

They play on our greed by floating huge figures in our faces. Millions in exchange for thousands. You would be surprised how gullible they are. I read about one guy who said he was a clergyman who had no access to cash but could write them a cheque if they could forward just 80 dollars for couriers. The Nigerian scammers went for it and sent him the 80 dollars. Thing of beauty

the email you got is very common for many ladies. When I was working I got 1-2 a month like this. Just delete it.

Another good one is the Netherland Lottery scam. I actually know a guy that got a letter in the mail all typed out and signed in a handwritten envelope. I have received a few emails from themin the past.

"Congratulations your name has been selected and you have won millions of dollars! Send us the processing fee!!!", Blah, blah, blah.

Hmmmm, geez I never entered my name into a lottery... I just feel bad for the old people that fall for these!

I got one of those scam lottery thingies. It was for the U.S so and so lottery or some such. I sent irate e-mails to the contact adress and the adress didn't exist. Go figure!
